Why does the ODBC-ODBC Bridge installation hang?

  1. If the hang occurs while the Setup dialog shows "Easysoft ODBC-ODBC Bridge is preparing the InstallShield wizard which will guide you through the rest of the setup process. Please Wait" and the 100% progress bar is displayed:

    Try waiting (up to 5 minutes). The installation may continue as normal. This occurs with InstallShield installations from other vendors too, and so we don't think this is a problem specific to the Easysoft ODBC-ODBC Bridge installation.

    Close all other applications before installing.

  2. If the hang occurs after you've completed all the InstallShield dialog boxes:

    You're probably running ODBC-ODBC Bridge 1.0.0.3 or earlier. These versions contain a bug in the InstallShield service template that can cause the installation to loop forever, waiting for a previously installed ODBC-ODBC Bridge server service to close down. The solution in this case is to either:

    • Get a more recent version of the ODBC-ODBC Bridge.

      –Or–

    • Shut down the installation (use the Windows Task Manager). Then in Windows Services, make sure that the ODBC-ODBC Bridge server service is stopped. Run the installation again and it should progress correctly.
