Are any user names or passwords transmitted as plain text over the network connection?

No. The ODBC-ODBC Bridge encrypts user names and passwords before sending them across the network between the client and server.

In addition, the Windows ODBC-ODBC Bridge stores user names and passwords for client data sources as encrypted registry values.
